Reading outside under the umbrella has been one of my favorite ways to spend time this summer.  I am still reading for the American Cancer Society reading challenge.  What an interesting collection of books I have read and I still have another week to go! Nineteen books read in twenty four days. I have 4 more books I feel like I need to read before the time is done.   Please contact me if you are interested in donating, although I know many of you donate in various ways.

The only problem with reading outside is that you need to take breaks to enjoy the beautiful green of the tree and grasses near my deck.  I find it very interesting that I do not see Yoshi when he is in the grass or among the trees even though he is definitely orange and white.

One of the challenges I gave myself is to read some different books (outside my favorite genre of historical romance).  I found I needed to find more types of books to read as I felt I was sliding into a niche and exploring beyond my usual zone. This summer I read books in the genres of suspenseful thrillers, contemporary and historical romance, cozy mysteries, commercial fiction, women’s fiction and literary fiction.   I can tell you with total confidence, I do not like horror or mystical fiction.  I have also read some futuristic novels – just not on the list yet.

I always love to see what Elise is reading this week.  She sent in a review of Mrs. Endicott’s Splendid Adventure by Rhys Bowen, a book that is about women who are willing to take on an adventure and bond with people that they may not have in their everyday life.  Elise interviewed Sarah Stewart Taylor about her newest books (Agony Hill and Hunter’s Heart Ridge).  It is always interesting to hear how authors make the choices they do.

I hope you all find time to read this week.  Please contact me if you are interested in donating, although I know many of you donate in various ways.
