The Picasso Heist by James Patterson

The Picasso Heist is a new series (?), standalone book from James Patterson.  The book is a twisted, constantly moving mystery with crosses, double crosses and even more.  The main character is Halston Graham, a younger woman who has just finished college and is starting out her career in the art world.  But maybe she isn’t? What we know for sure about her is that her father is in prison and she is greatly concerned over his health.

What we don’t know are the people she connects with and their response to questions. We are brought down a path to believe one thing and then something else totally different happens. There is a new Picasso painting going up for auction, but it seems that the person who wants it might not be the person who gets it. The heist feels more like a long con with many moving pieces.

I enjoyed the novel.  I enjoyed Halston as a character and found her reasoning and planning remarkable.  As the novel is a James Patterson novel, it reads quickly with short chapters.  I didn’t expect the ending, not even in my wildest dreams.  The complex nature of the crime(s) makes the novel fascinating.  The Picasso Heist is a good read.
