I have just finished reading The Measure by Nikki Erlick. The book is wonderful and timely. As I have grown older, I have tried to treat others (no matter what) with respect. Although I might have lost it over my debit card being hacked. This book can be read many ways for many people, but to me it reads as a novel to remind us the choices we make in our lifetimes are powerful and should be chosen with a clear understanding of how it helps the world.
The Measure follows a select group of people who have been given a box with a string inside it. The string represents the length of their life. As you can imagine, short strings vs long strings became a thing, with prejudice and mistreatment along the way. Each of the main characters dealt with their string in various manners, which led to different various choices made.
The novel, while making me cry at times, illustrated how divided people can be and treat others. The novel reminded me that the beginning and the end are not as important as the here and now. The Measure by Nikki Erlick is a five star read, a great read that I highly encourage others to read.
