The Housemaid by Freida McFadden

The Housemaid by Freida McFadden is a humdinger!  The novel is a twist upon a twist upon a twist!  This author had been recommended to me by several people and I now understand why!

The book written in the first person focuses on a housekeeper.  Only Millie has a past that she has worked on hiding.  The Winchesters hire her to clean their house along with some cooking and child care.  From the beginning there are signs that Nina Winchester struggles with her mental health.  Then there is the room that Millie is given, the door only locks on the outside.  When Millie meets Andrew Winchester, she finds a sympathetic character.  He offers her a chance to see a play and enjoy a night in NYC.  Only there is an interesting twist afterward.  Throw in an interesting groundskeeper.

The Housemaid is definitely a thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat, twisting as new pieces of information are slowly revealed.  The pace of the reveals and the way they are revealed are what makes this book so good. The Housemaid by Freida McFadden is a good read.
