Storm Tide by Paul Doiron is another one of Mike Bowditch’s adventures wrapped up with killers, burning houses, unknown assailants and creepy people. In other words, a fun read! Once again the great state of Maine is the setting with its coastline and hard living for many people.
The book starts out with a house burning to the ground with two people suspected of murdering a child. Then another murder down east who was associated with the rape and murder of a teenager. Through all this Mike pushed and pushed trying to get answers that made sense to him, and yet again he was put on administrative leave, supposedly for the birth of his child. Mike is not able to let this go and it dragged in almost over his head more than once. Having an assailant come up on his porch when his wife and child are there put everything on the line.
Once again Storm Tide by Paul Doiron is a great read with another Mike Bowditch investigation!
This book really highlights the difference between the poorest and the richest. I was astounded by how much the difference mattered to me in this book. What I think it so ably displayed was the stubborn determination of eeking a living in an unforgiving landscape.
