So what are you reading?

So what are you reading???

Family Edition  #1: Not everyone reads in our family, but most do.  We don’t all read books as many of us read newspapers, magazines and other sources as well.  We don’t all read one genre, although we do seem to read either fiction or nonfiction, with a couple exceptions.  Many of us read books from the library.  A couple of us are Kindle Unlimited readers.  Some prefer books in hand while others prefer using our electronic devices.

My sister sent me two pictures of the novels she has up to read.  One novel was Tell Me by Lisa Jackson, a thriller mystery based on a murder that happened twenty years ago.  Only the killing has started up again.  The other book she is going to read is The Boyfriend by Freida McFadden.  Another thriller with the new perfect boyfriend who might not be everything perfect.  I have to say the description of The Boyfriend definitely caught my attention.

My niece just completed a Brandon Sanderson book called Wind and Truth.  The book is part of the Stormlight Series.  Over Christmas, she shared all sorts of information about the world of Stormlight.  The books are long and intricate with lots of information about the world and the various characters.  I loved hearing the passion in her voice as she spoke about the novels.

My aunt is reading an Eloisa James book, Viscount in Love.  She more often listens to books and almost always has a couple of books going.  We read a lot of the same authors and novels.

My bestie is reading Christmas in Bethal by Richard Paul Evans right now. Next up on her list is The Mirror by Nora Roberts.  We share some favorite authors including Nora Roberts.  She actually is the most organized of all of us by keeping a spreadsheet of all the books she has read and wants to read.

Elise is a reader too and shares her reviews and interviews weekly with us.  She has sent in an interview with Suzanne Woods Fisher and a review of Ben Koenig books 1 and 2 by M W Craven this week.

The point is not that a number of us are readers (especially as I only had a chance to ask a few family members and not all of us are readers) but that we all read different books. That is what matters.  We all have different interests, different methods of obtaining books and different preferences, but we have access to books that interest us.  Something that I feel everyone should have access to – books that interest us, make us curious, offer other views, and maybe make us rethink our beliefs.

Now, I have missed a number of readers in my family and as we move forward this year, I will highlight (without names) a number of books read by others.  Please send in your reads as well.  I would love to share them with your permission.  Reading opens up so many worlds and I wish for many of us to be able to share those worlds.
