I love the days when I can enjoy a Mary Balogh novel! Her newest novel, Remember That Day is an historical romance. Between the Wares and Wescotts Familys, there are always lots of parties, people and LOVE (lots and lots of love). The newest novel introduces us to Nicholas Ware and Winefred Cunningham at a lovely house party and village fete.
Nicholas is the second son and the spare. He joined the military when he was 18 and participated in France helping stop Napoleon. He knows he wants to marry and wants children but does not believe in love, so he has asked a perfectly appropriate woman to marry him and hopes over the summer when she visits, he will be able to cement his engagement. HOWWEVER…
Winifred Cumminham is an adopted daughter of a famous painter and his wife (longer story from another Mary Balogh novel). She is unabashedly herself; intelligent, plain speaking, honest and as she believes not beautiful. She loves to be useful, helps with her bajillion siblings, and is pretty sure no one will ever marry her as she is a nobody. HOWEVER…
Remember That Day by Mary Balogh was a fun read!
