I admit, I often think of this quote when I read. Some weeks I really hope that is not true! Other weeks, everything I read seems to be deeply personal.
This month I am hoping that the books I read were NOT the ones I needed most. Too many dead people and too many investigations are not what I need in my life! One book was especially poignant in that it focused on someone overcoming a tragedy (accidently killing someone) when they were young, but still it is a hard pass for me!
I have noticed that there are a lot of books about WWII. They seem to run the gauntlet between resistance to the Nazis, escaping the Nazis and/or doing your part to help the war effort against the Nazis. Again, something I would like to avoid, a world war.
The last major category I noticed in fiction is fantasy. SIGH. I used to read them and loved the idea of living in another world, until it just was overkill one month too many and I haven’t gone back.
So… it is back to reading the books in my queue. Looking ahead, there are a bunch of books about Christmas due in September… SIGH
