Palms on the Cape by Jenn Bouchard

Palms on the Cape by Jenn Bouchard is a contemporary romance novel with great supporting characters.  The novel centers around a quirky beach bar on the Cape.  It has a group of regulars who are always expected as well as a number of friends/employees.  Mostly it has Rachel Sinclair, who is the owner, founder, chef and support to all.

Palms on the Cape offers a limited menu each day and night.  They accept orders to go that are picked up daily as well as those who come in to eat.  One night a group comes in, who are all working on their MBA.  In this case, they are to build a business plan for a restaurant.  They call themselves the A-listers.  While the group comes off as obnoxious and rude, one member comes off as charming to Rachel.  In reality, he and his group have nefarious intentions on Palms on the Cape and Rachel’s restaurant.

Meanwhile, Rachel’s mother seems to be needier than usual, there is the question of her parentage and Carlos.  Carlos is the hot neighbor who used to pitch for the Red Sox (already a hit in my eyes).  There is a lot to plan on a daily basis and Rachel is busy!

I read this book in a day.  I was charmed by the book, the people and the storyline.  I loved that Carlos used to play for the Sox.  I loved the setting of the cape.  For a nonfoodie like myself, I even enjoyed the various menu items.  (It helps that Rachel is allergic to shellfish like myself.) Palms on the Cape by Jenn Bouchard was a fun read!
