This week I finished a wonderful series by Tricia O’Malley about Scotland, witches, kelpies and familiars. I have been slowly going through and reading them as palate cleansers between some of the heavier books I read. The series is called The Enchanted Highland Series. It consists of 10 books each focusing on a different couple falling in love, finding their power and joining the order to save their world. I loved the stories – although it did not hurt that the men all wore kilts on special occasions. I loved the animals that were their familiars – for example hedgehogs and gnomes.
This is the second series I have read by this author as I loved the Irish series as well, Mystic Cove (12 books and 2 novellas). Now there is a third series she is working on called The Scottish Charms. So far there are only 2 books out. I think this series is more humorous and might have some more eccentric characters. I do know the author has written other novels, but I am not sure I am going to jump into another series right away.
I am not sure what it is about reading a series. I love reading them. They only even need to be tangential related and I still enjoy them. The problem is the amount of time they consume! I hate waiting a year or more between books, but I do not have enough time in my days to read complete series from beginning to end.
Two of my favorite authors Nora Roberts and Jayne Anne Krentz write series. Certainly reading all the Eve Dallas Novels would take a good amount of time – as there are over 60. CJ Box has written 27 novels about Joe Picket. I can not even count Jayne Anne Krentz’s series never mind the numbers of books in each series (https://jayneannkrentz.com/books/books-by-series/)
