Oldie but Goodie

Recently I read a book (pretty sure it was one of the Four Corner Ranch Books) where the main character spoke about how much she loved the book, The Wolf and the Dove.  I recognized the name immediately knowing that Kathleen E. Woodiwiss wrote the book a long time ago. It was published 50 plus years ago, although I didn’t find it until later.  Back then, books like that were called “bodice rippers”. (A very derogatory term in my mind).

This week I attended a zoom conference with Catherine Bybee.  Again the novels of Kathleen E Woodiwiss came up, specifically the Wolf and the Dove.  As part of our discussion, we spoke about the front runners to all the romance books we read now were books by Woodiwiss.  Not only did she write books intended to highlight romance and people drawn to each other in unexpected ways, but she actually had a couple of books tied together by characters within a family.  The predecessor to today’s romantic series.

I thought and thought about those books and how much I absolutely loved them.  So I found copies in kindle and then realized I didn’t need to buy them as I already had.  I purchased the book 10 years ago. Luckily I could reload it onto my newest kindle and I have been happily reading the novel again.  I don’t remember how many times I have read the book, but I am enjoying the novel this time too (and I still want to slap Gwyneth).  The books were not historically accurate, but the characters and story still make me love the novel.  SIGH…

Elise was busy reading this week!  She sent in an interview with Lisa Childs and her thoughts on her three most recent books, all in different genres. She also sent in a review of a book called, “Rockets Red Glare” by William Webster and Dick Lochte.  The book is an action/adventure book set in the National Parks and other wilderness areas.

Take the time to read this week!
