November Wrap Up

It’s been nine months since I was bit by the cat and suffered a variety of injuries ending in 3 surgeries and a month in the hospital.  This has opened a whole learning curve for me, learning to be retired, my new limits, to be quiet and sit with myself and living with a smaller income.  The cat still sleeps with me nightly and we still play, I am just more conscious of stopping the play outside the bedroom at least an hour before I go to bed.

Winter started despite the calendar assuring me it is not winter yet.  I have a feeling this winter is not going to be for the faint at heart.  Since, I am less tethered about having to go out each day (to work), I think some snow would be wonderful.  Just not on Mondays when I need to go to the Wound Center.  I just need to find someone to shovel for me again.

I have finished reading and reviewing most of the books I was given by NetGalley.  I have determined then that December is a free read month!  I have some books stacked up both old and new that I am determined to read.  I do have to admit, right now I am finishing the Mystic Cove series (books 10,11 and 12).  After that Tricia O’Malley has another series I could read.  Or maybe I will dive into Rebecca Yarros’s books.  I have already downloaded her book The Last Letter and according to my reading buddy at the wound center – it is really good.  I also am going to try to join an online book club group (#tover40booktokbookclub), they are reading Last Christmas in Paris and I have already planned A Week in Winter by Maeve Binchy. I also have Heather Gudenkauf’s newest book, The Perfect Hosts from the library as well as The Story She Left Behind by Patti Calahan Henry.  I am excited to dig into all these.  I am sure you all have some great books you want to share with me – so send in the suggestions!

I also have finished at least ten squares in my November Bingo sheet.  I read 23 books in November and found several awesome reads. The Wild Card by Carolyn Brown and When the Rain Ends by Mary Ellen Taylor were two of the books that I believe were five stars reads..  Both books are about finding your place, your home in this world.

Elise has been busy this week and sent in a book review of The Lie She Wears by Elle Marr.  Elise said the book is full of lies, mystery and murder… a psychological thriller.  The interview is with Suzanne Woods Fisher and her newest book, The Year of Flowers. The book is a collection of four novellas that all tie together with answers in the final novella.

As always, thanks for being a reader.  Hoping you find time to read!
