…life was a jumbled, chaotic, beautiful mess of good and bad, sadness and light. (15 Summers Later by RaeAnne Thayne p343)
And so this last month has been a magnificent jumbled chaotic mess. There have been some interesting twists and turns. Last week, I was not able to put up a blog. This week, I fell and fractured a rib. Today I was finally able to stand, take a shower and wash my hair. Looking on the other side, Gizzie has been sleeping with me and purring. I found another marvelous set of books to read. And I have taken naps. Wonderful naps.
One of the best books from this week was The Christmas Bookshop. It is a wonderful story about the holidays, but more importantly it is about love, hope and the family you have and the family you make. For me, the fact it takes place in Scotland, just makes it better. I love the positive energy the book promotes along with the understanding that perfect doesn’t exist, but “life is a mess of good and bad.”
The new series I have found is called Heaven’s Cove by Liz Eeles. The novels take place in a lovely seaside town called Heaven’s Cove in Devon, England. The novels have a series of reappearing characters, but each novel focuses on two (usually new) characters who have moved, returned, or visited (with a purpose). There seems to be a small town feel even when tourists come in. More importantly there seems to be a support system for each other, even with “sadness and light.” The reviews will be up on Goodreads later this week.
Elise sent us an interview with Pamela Fagan Hutchins and her newest series of books. The Detective Delaney Pace series is a modern-day western thriller with a strong female lead character. Delaney Pace is a Sheriff deputy with two adopted daughters. The novels are crime thrillers!
OH and a new discovery – putting on socks with a broken rib is one of the nine circles of Dante’s hell.
