Marigold Cottages Murder Collective

Marigold Cottages Murder Collective by Jo Nicoles is a cosy mystery with quirky characters set in a small enclave in California .  Mrs B owns her house and the cottages on the land.  Each of the cottages are rented to various characters who Mrs B has taken in.  Together they are acquaintances with each other, at least until the murder right on the property .  Suddenly their safe little space is changed.

Anthony, one of the newest tenants, and an ex con is arrested (on the barest of evidence) for the murder.  This leads to Mrs B getting everyone together to help figure out what really happened, because she knows Anthony didn’t do it.  Eventually, she confesses to being the villain as does everyone else on the property.  Talk about ‘overkill’.

The story starts slowly with all the characters.  I found myself mixing them up at first and struggling with the story, however once I gave it another chance everything fell into place and I had to know what was going to happen and who did what.  I liked the funky characters and I liked how they were able to band together.  I found how they manufactured different possibilities and how they were able to get the police to let Anthony go.

Marigold Cottages Murder Collective by Jo Nicoles is a good read with fun characters and an interesting plot line.
