lots of needles

HELLO my dear readers,

It has been so long since I have been able to write to all of you.  I have been rather incapacitated and unable to write my weekly blog, never mind write book reviews.  It seems that some things that start with a cat scratch can end with sepsis, surgeries and a long hospital stay.  I have been pretty darn sick, without knowing how sick I really was.  The stay in the hospital has included meeting some interesting people although right now, I have lucked out with a great roommate and a strong support system.  The medical leave will eventually end and I will be able to go back to work.  I find all the hospital personnel, especially the night crew quite interesting.

I have read some good books, some of which I have managed to write up.

The Medici Return by Steve Berry was wonderful.  A great “who dun it” with lots of twists.  The Vatican continues to be full of secrets and intrigue for Steve Berry.  Just hearing the Medici name with all their mechanisms from the middle ages reminds you that power can corrupt anyone.

Barbara Freethy has a new book out called, Nothing Breaks Like a Heart.  In her newest novel, we meet the “perfect couple” who are getting the perfect wedding.  However as we know – nothing is truly perfect with people dying and rooms being destroyed.  The twists were somewhat expected and quite frankly so was the solution,  it was the methodology and the reveals that were shocking!

Fight or Flight by Fern Michaels was another twisted thriller.  Imagine never being able to leave your home, but yet you know someone has been in your house going through your things.  Trapped in a world that is neither safe nor expected, with new characters entering your life who absolutely make you want to know more answers.  I loved the main character of Katherine Winston, but was less than enthused about the pace of the novel (it felt fast).  The novel was a good read and as always Fern Michael books are always a good bet.

As the week goes on, I will work on catching up – I am also quite sure Elise has all sorts of things to add as well…  Thanks for your patience and well wishes.
