Lonesome Ridge by Maisey Yates

Lonesome Ridge by Maisey Yates is the third book in the Rustler Mountain series.  In this series the main characters are from the  Hancock and the Wilder family; specifically Jessie Jane Hancock and Flynn Wilder.  The two families have been enemies until most recently and still have a stilted relationship.

Jessie Jane has decided that she is going to run for mayor in their small town.  She wants to keep the focus on the ‘regular’ people in town. She does not believe that trying to draw a “higher class” of people will improve tourism.  She also has decided that she needs someone to help her by being her “boyfriend” and that person is Flynn Wilder.

Flynn Wilder is in a strange situation.  His half-sister is the mayor, although she does not like him at all.  He had a house up on Lonesome Ridge and runs his own ranch.  Jessie Jane approaches him to be her boyfriend and he agrees. He is not usually boyfriend material as he does one night stands.

One of the enjoyable parts of the book is how Jessie Jane and Flynn have to figure out the boy and girl friend situation.  They are so awkward with each other that it is cute.  When they actually start a relationship the cute turns hotter!

I enjoyed the novel.  I was concerned I wouldn’t like it as I have never really liked the prior descriptions of Jessie Jane, however she turned out to be one of my favorite characters of all.  Having both Flynn and Jessie actually share information without jumping into bed first was another way this book stood out.  Lonesome Ridge by Maisey Yates is a good read!
