How to Ruin a Rake by Kate Pearce is a fun book to read. It is the second book in the series Rakes of London. Three women decide they are in search of an unmarried rake in London to help find someone to meet their needs, but not through marriage. In the first book, one lady puts in an advertisement for a rake. Needless to say that prevents her sister from making a match.
Lady Allegra Musgrove now knows there is no way she will ever be able to find a husband. Her sister’s advertisement made that clear! So she is off to live with her family in the country probably forever. The problem starts when she is kidnapped right outside her front door. The problem continues when she has no recourse except to escape, only even that goes wrong! Allegra ends up saving Max (her kidnapper and Duke’s son) and helping them get to a nearby inn which was part of the next problem. The entire kidnapping was one problem after another with lie upon lie which caused even more problems!
The novel has some real tongue and cheek moments that I enjoyed. I do wish Allegra didn’t start being apologetic to Max toward the end. He was the guilty one not Allegra. However, having said that, overall I enjoyed the novel and will wait impatiently for the next novel in the series (I hope follows). How to Ruin a Rake by Kate Pearce was a good read.
