Haven’t Killed in Years by Amy K Green is a contemporary murder mystery with a complex protagonist. As the book progresses more information leaks out from her which reinforces your understanding of how challenged she is in life.
We are introduced to Gwen Tanner from the beginning. She is another nameless worker in Boston in another company. She lives alone and really does not trust many people and rarely lets anyone in. Until the dismembered arms start showing up on her doorstep, she is unremarkable. Then slowly information comes out, she meets more people that seem to have a connection with the various things happening and it is quite interesting. That is when we start to find out some truths – names, places, and other details that come out in such a commonplace way, that aren’t at all!
Then the story starts to pick up speed and the characters all have ulterior motives that keep you guessing. I would recommend that you pay attention to the dates when they are presented. I didn’t and should have. The novel does drag in places and while feeling slow, while at other places it is easy to miss things. Haven’t Killed in Years by Amy Green was an interesting thriller.
