Harbinger of Spring

Winter is finally here or at least a winter pattern of storms is still here.  We have had a storm every few days.  Why am I sharing this with you?  It has allowed me more time to embroidery and to read, after I shovel…sigh.  The best part is the birds are back.  This week we had seven bluebirds!  They were beautiful and a harbinger of hope for the spring to come.

I have read some great books this week.  (https://marjaysreadingblog.com/reviews/)

Promise Me, Sunshine by Cara Bastone is one of the best ARCs I have read.  I appreciated the storyline with the two main characters helping the other one learn to survive in different ways.  I found the storyline of Lenny’s grief over her best friend’s death poignant and well portrayed.  I loved the character of Miles being the helpful one, until we realize that he needs just as much help as Lenny does.

Another great ARC this week was Rustlers Mountain by Maisey Yates.  It was an old fashion western with two feuding families brought to a contemporary stage with one character from each family willing to move forward, tackle the hard stuff and figure out how things could be better for the town while fighting their own attraction to each other.  And then there was the twist… always a good ending!

I am still working my way through the Drake Sisters novels by Christin Feehan.  Murder, mystery and witchcraft along with HOT men abound in the novels.  They are not short either.  They are very long and sometimes intricate with how they weave around each of the seven sisters and their partners.  I think I am on book number six out of seven, so hope springs eternal.

Elise has also been busy reading and writing.  This week she sent us a book review on a book by Elizabeth Penney called Madrigan and Mayhem.  The author’s interview is with Shelley Shepard Gray and of her two novels.  All great reading materials and ideas.

The other important harbinger of spring is soon to be happening. Both Elise and I are quite aware that baseball is soon to be a strong presence in our world.  We might not cheer for the same teams or like the same players, but we love baseball.  In the world of the Red Sox, catcher and pitchers are to report on Tuesday to camp.  Be still my heart.
