Blood Moon by Sandra Brown is a wonderful thriller with a strong “whodunit” edge. The book clearly keeps people right on the edge of their seats with each twist. John and Beth are interesting main characters whose determination allows them to follow the truth.
The Auclair Police Department is in Louisiana. They are a small department spread over a large land area and run by a joke in charge. Detective John Bowie is just trying to not lose his job, despite his captain’s efforts. Ever since the case with Crissy Mellin disappearance and presumed death, John’s job has been tenuous. John believes that there is more to the case. He believes that they caught the wrong person and that the killer is still at large.
What he doesn’t know until he meets Beth Collins (a senior producer on Crisis Point) are all the facts that relate to the case and that there may be more victims of this serial murder. Never mind how the whole thing smells like a coverup! Beth and John do not see eye to eye right away, but it is clear once they are willing to talk that there are people who would like them to back off or be a casualty.
As questions are asked and other cases are found, things become even more dangerous for Beth and John. So many questions and clues are far and mostly obscure. They have to put themselves in danger and the blood moon is coming right up.
Sandra Brown’s novel is suspenseful and full of twists and turns. Interestingly one of the twists is that this book was originally published in March. I enjoyed reading this book and would encourage others to read Blood Moon by Sandra Brown
