Beach Vibes by Susan Mallery

Beach Vibes by Susan Mallery is her newest great read.  The novel focuses on Beth and Jana,  two women who are growing their friendship.  Beth realizes that she needs to make some changes to her life which includes starting to make friends (that are hers, not her exes).  Jana likes having a friend she can chat with and share her dreams with.  However, drama occurs when Beth’s brother Rick becomes involved.

To Beth’s surprise, her brother Rick brings his new girlfriend Jana to dinner.  Neither Beth nor Jana are particularly happy with Rick’s decision.  Both have trouble recognizing their friend from his description of them.  Just when you have almost resolved yourself to the strangeness of the situation, Beth meets Teddy and sparks fly.  That is when things get interesting.

People change. Situations when looked at openly often give clues, clues that Beth and Jana missed.  I found myself waiting for the drama, because I knew that there was drama coming.  One of the reasons I love Susan Mallery, is that she does women and relationships like no other.  I like how most of the characters were able to grow from the situation and become better and more open people.

I realized at the end of the novel, while there were scenes at the beach, the beach was not a key element in the novel, so the title might not be the best descriptive title.  However despite the odd title,  Beach Vibes by Susan Mallery was a great read.
