Back in the Saddle is the second book in Kristen Ashley’s series called Avenging Angels. The Avenging Angels are a group of besties who are fierce and want to right wrongs and help others. They live in an apartment complex called the Oasis, which is just what it is for many people. Their community is tight and they work together at a local cafe, which comes across as a ‘rocking’ good time.
Jessie Wylde is desperate to find her brother. He is missing and she is sure that he needs her help. Their parents were worthless, so Jessie ended up taking care of her brother a lot. Now as an adult, she is still trying to take care of him. Into this scenario walks Eric Turner, an ex FBI agent and an investigator to Nightingale Investigations and Security Team in Phoenix. He is so into Jessie (although she is clueless).
While Jessie is going to homeless camps looking for her brother giving out food and water to help them out, she discovers that some of the homeless are going missing. With her Avenging Angels they set out to find out what is going on. Of course they end up with Nightingale helping them.
The book is a classic Kristen Ashley with all the hijinks, funky characters, great clothes and hot sex. The characters from the prior “Rock Chick” book are all intertwined with the new characters. Reality does have to be suspended at times, but that is also what makes the book totally in its own world. I did enjoy the novel and found I was glad I read the prior book first. Back in the Saddle by Kristen Ashley was a fun read.
