Aunt Ivy’s Cottage by Kristin Harper is the second book in the Dune Island series. Zoey has been staying with her Aunt Ivy. After all, since she is out of a job (not through her own doing), she has time and her Aunt needs her. This is the cottage and the place where she feels the most loved and taken care of. Wanting to help her aunt through the death of her sister-in-law and her Aunt’s lingering health concerns, gives Zoey a chance to repay the love she always felt there with them.
While there, Zoey meets and begins to form a relationship with a local contractor, Nate. Then her niece came to stay with them while her father needed hospitalization. Zoey is trying to keep all the pieces working together, she is finding herself in direct competition with her cousin Mark.. He seems to always find fault with Zoey’s choices and seems to need to move Aunt Ivy from her home to an assisted home. Zoey is determined to make sure Aunt Ivy doesn’t leave her home until she is ready to. Tied within all this is the discussion, is the question about who Mark’s father truly was.
The novel does focus on the story of Zoey and her dedication to her Aunt while balancing her needs and the needs of her niece. Zoey has decisions to make that may impact her future, her family and her Aunt. Aunt Ivy’s Cottage by Kristin Harper was a good read.
