Assassins Anonymous by Rob Hart is an unusual book. After all, who ever would think of starting a group for assassins to help them stop being assassins. Can you just stop killing? This is the first book in a series called Assassins Anonymous.
Mark was an assassin. He was considered lethal and his name evoked fear in others. Mark just wanted to have a normal life without constant vigilance. He joined the Assassins Anonymous group to help him be more of a man. Only to be threatened when he is attacked by some unknown guy. Then he is followed and his friends threatened as he goes to find out who did this. Nevermind the obvious problem of not killing anyone who is trying to kill him. Mark goes on the run with his cat and the person who was able to sew up his wounds.
The book is a fast read bouncing back and forth from the past and the present. When reading, you really want Mark to stay true to his new goal but you recognize how hard this might be. It is an interesting position to be cheering on both sides.
Assassins Anonymous has one of the most unusual premises of any book I have ever read. I found the book to be fast paced, jarringly so at times. I found that I really liked Mark, the main character, but I worried about his cat more than him. Assassins Anonymous was a good read.
