A year and a skein of yarn.

It’s been a year since the now famous cat scratch.  A short review. Yoshi and I were playing, but I stopped, he didn’t.  The scratch caused cellulitis, it became infected and then sepsis set in.  I was in the emergency room (ie a hallway) for up to almost 24 hours.  Then I was in the hospital for a month, and had three surgeries on my leg. When I left the hospital, I was connected to a wound vacuum.  That was another 10 weeks and now I just have a wound still open on my leg that has a complicated wrap.  For this whole time, I have gone into the wound center weekly and had a visiting nurse two times a week.  I celebrated today with ice tea and lemon oreos. Yoshi celebrated today by attacking a rabid skein of yarn, which I will be working on tomorrow.

What I have learned:

The visiting nurses and wound center nurses are angels.

My sisters and cousin are the best

There are many many good people who will help you.  Not just friends, although mine are the best.

There are many ways to catch a plastic tube in your home and pull it out.

I miss going to the grocery store – kind of

I was upset from being kept from so many parts of my life without being able to say goodbye.

The pothos plants hate me – either I give them too much water or not enough.

Doomscrolling eats my brain.

Reading with both cats on my lap is nearly impossible

Life can change in a minute, without warning.

When it does go back to “normal” it isn’t the same normal. It is a new normal.

It’s really good that I like reading.

Elise sent in a review of Away To Me by Patricia McConnell. It is a mystery as well as a book filled with information about dogs and their connections to humans.  Also, there is an author interview with Patricia Johns who writes novels about the Amish people who are struggling with the demands of life.
