A Marriage of Lies by Amanda McKinney is a thrilling mystery. The main character is a police detective who knows there is something off about what is going on. The story is told from multiple points of view with stories that seemingly don’t match up with what is going on. Each of the main characters adds information to the shocking murders or to the overall genre of the story. However it is not clear what they are adding until the end of the book. I found that Rowan was a very sympathetic character. I was shocked that she admitted to the murders, as I had already come up with another solution. Furthermore I was shocked with the level of counseling that Amber gave without figuring out that … well that will give it away.
I enjoyed the novel. It was short and caught and held my attention. I did feel at times there was something underlying – just under the surface that I was missing, which kept me reading. A Marriage of Lies by Amanda McKinney was a good read.
