This Changes Everything by Lisa Scottoline is an author I usually enjoy. I have read a number of her books and found them interesting with characters that felt appropriate for the story.
The story revolves around two best friends trying to figure out why a death occurred. The setting in Pennsylvania with the ground burning beneath where the murder occurred. Julia and Courtney have been friends since college. While they are now married and live in different countries, they still are there for each other. When Courtney’s grandmother was murdered, Julia immediately flew in to help her.
Julia was in a prior book where her abilities as a fledgeling medium was tested. In this particular novel, her skills are again highlighted. I did not read the prior book, which may have been helpful with this novel.
I found the story did not feel smoothly told with some places felt rushed and others felt so slow. I also struggled with the two main characters as they did not feel likable to me. It felt like they rushed from one decision to another without any regard to whether they were being realistic. This Changes Everything by Lisa Scottoline was not my favorite of her books.
