Whisper Creek by Allison Brennan is a thriller/mystery with great suspense. There were lots of characters, some were not so nice. The mystery was interesting with some twists and turns, but the true horror was the weather. A huge storm, lots and lots of wind and rain, flooding the roads and land, overflowing streams causing difficulties traveling.
Ellen McKenna was struggling. After her husband died she is holding the ranch together. They want to expand understanding that would be a key to more success, however a local wants people to sell to him and makes it hard for Ellen. The intensity of the storm causes various members of the family to leave to go check on and help neighbors, but there are nefarious people too who are out and about.
I enjoyed the twisty fast paced novel! I was all in after just a couple of chapters and did not want to stop reading. I found myself reading faster in some places because I wanted to know what was going to happen next. Allison Brennan writes the best novels. Whisper Creek was a great read.
