Rules for Aging and Larceny by Julia London is a hoot. The story revolves around a young “girl group” who years ago were master criminals. The 20 year olds agreed they would only take from those that deserve it. They planned and pulled off various crimes until they were shut down due to risk of exposure.
Now the ladies are in their 70s. They have all lost touch with each other and are living lives without each other. Frances, Joan, Edie, and Irene now resemble the Golden Girls (so named by a friend). Frances has realized that her life is shrinking and she wants one more adventure with her friends. The problems are almost too numerous to count, but Frances is determined and pushes forward.
Soon the ladies plus one are in Vegas planning a HUGE heist against a paranoid creep. Moving slower than ever and struggling to do things that were so commonplace 50 years ago make each character more delightful. Stubbornness goes further than you think! Rules for Aging and Larceny by Julia London is a fun book to read with twists and turns that are unexpected!
