A Refuge in Montana by Allie Pleiter

A Refuge in Montana by Allie Pleiter is a sweet (i.e. no heat) romance with strong Christian overtones.  While I appreciate and support using prayers and going to church, this book was not identified in the Christian genre.  Quite frankly, I wouldn’t have chosen to read it, if it was.

The book’s main characters were Nick and Vicki.  Vicki’s husband died.  Her husband’s best friend was Nick. Vicki blamed Nick for his death and was quite angry – even bitter about what happened. Vicki also has a young son who is all about horsey man.

The other main characters were Dunk (donkey) and Buddy (horse).  Both were rescues and needed attention and care.  I loved the animals in the story as they made the human characters more empathetic.

The novel is listed as the second book in a series called Three Sisters Rescue Farm. While I didn’t read the prior book, I didn’t struggle with a backstory or characters that I might have missed.  A Refuge in Montana by Allie Pleiter is a sweet Christian read with empathy and forgiveness.
