Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth is a wonderful story about a woman who had lived on her street for decades. Mabel minds everyone’s business and has opinions about all sorts of things. She was mysterious, while seemingly open in her life. I was totally into this character!
Sally Hepworth writes wonderful thrillers. Her stories are often full of twists and unexpected turns. While this novel is more subtle, the shifts and twists are no less wonderful and unexpected.
Mabel has lived under a moniker for years. She is trying to live a life without a lot of drama but as the book slowly evolves we are drawn into her life and learn about the people who seem to die. Her life revolves around her desire to be unknown, but that is soon to be a pipe dream.
I felt this story was a slow reveal and each step left you surprised and horrified in equal parts. I think this book, Mad Mabel, might be my favorite Sally Hepworth novel!
