The Moonshine Women by Michelle Collins Anderson

The Moonshine Women by Michelle Collins Anderson was an historical fiction novel set during the Prohibition Era in the Ozark Mountains.  Three daughters of Hiram and granddaughters of Lidy help run the farm and make moonshine.  The Prohibition Era prevented making moonshine and distributing it.  However, that did not stop the Strong women from continuing to make a living.

Rebeca, Elsie and Shine (Jace) work together to help their family survive.  Rebecca prefers her animals and the farm.  Elsie wants to be part of the larger world and be away from the farm work.  Shine wants to make moonshine and knows to add special ingredients that make their moonshine better.

However with prohibition officers crawling all over their land, it was a matter of time before they were found out. Hiram died and the family needed to find a way to make a living.  It is here that you see the true strength of the Strong women.  Their willingness to fight and claw for their future is what makes this book so remarkable.

The Moonshine Women is a remarkable novel of strength and resilience in a hard time!  The Strong women are a force of nature.  The Moonshine Women by Michelle Collins Anderson is a great read.
