Anne of a Different Island by Virginia Kantra is a wonderful modern retelling of the Anne of Green Gables novel. In this particular novel Anne sees herself as Anne – impulsive, full of adventures, and red hair. She wants to be a teacher and a writer. She wants to be in love and live happily ever after.
What Anne did not ever see was her life back on Mackinac Island after the death of her father, the unhappiness with her administration and breaking up with Chris. Now Anne really needs to decide about her future. What she thought would happen fell through so what is next?
Well there is Joe, her father’s business partner. He always used to see her as a pest, but not so much now. Daania, her best friend, is married with children. There is the wonderful island with so much to see. Maybe it is time to write the books she has always wanted to. Maybe it is time to figure out what is next without a map.
I loved reading this book! I found Anne to be just as delightful as I did the original Anne. I loved the characters and the setting. Anne of a Different Island by Virginia Kantra was a good read.
