It is almost 6 pm and I can still see the sky and trees as separate items. I know that next week I will celebrate when the clocks change. I do like it to be light out later than earlier. To me this also means it is time for town elections and town meetings. This year as last year I will be unable to go, but look forward to going by next year.
This week, the book that resonated strongly with me was Where the Wild Flowers Grow by Terah Shelton Harris. The novel was so well written and caught my attention pretty quickly. The overarching theme of the book is that of grief and survival. I also felt that sacrifice was a huge component as well. The main character Leigh had to make several decisions and deal with huge amounts of grief over the loss of her family. The novel also showed Leigh moving forward even when she didn’t know what was going to happen with her determination to survive.
In an interview with Terah Shelton Harris I was able to listen to on a podcast, she spoke about how she knows the ending before she writes, and then she writes the book moving toward the end. She does not plot or plan her novels. Terah called it ‘pantsing’ it (Like by the seat of your pants).
It brought up some of the age old questions like what would you sacrifice to help or save your family. I found out the amount of money, time and caring my family was more than willing to sacrifice when I was so ill. I am forever grateful for Anne and Kate and everything they did! I am not sure I have enough thank yous for them!
Elise sent in an interview with John Gilstrap and his newest book Scorched Earth. Elise said “This novel has vengeance, murder, greed, and political corruption.” The novel is suspenseful and engrossing with action that does not let up! WOW!
As always, find time to read!
