Murder Will Out by Jennifer K Breedlove is listed as a gothic mystery that is modern and lighter. I didn’t understand what that all meant, but the book took place on a small island in Maine with limited people and a mansion. That is why I wanted to read the book. I thought I would be reading a cozy mystery. What I got was a mystery within a mystery with more questions and lots of ghosts in a big old mansion.
Willow Stone received an unexpected letter and left immediately for Maine. She was being invited up to Maine for her godmother’s funeral, a woman who she has been estranged from since she was a teenager. Once there other information came out, her aunt Sue might have not just fallen, she may have had help.
As in a lot of mysteries, there are some interesting characters and seemingly lots of people who had the motive and opportunity. Until suddenly there is another murder and again a lot of motives and opportunity. Willow has help from a group of ghosts from the mansion and a small group of women that start to figure out some of what is happening. The mystery does amp up as the book continues and we have clarity as Willow is being chased and trapped.
Murder Will Out by Jennifer K Breedlove was not one of my regular reads, yet I enjoyed the characters, even the ghosts. I also really wanted to find out who was the murderer and why. Murder Will Out by Jennifer K Breedlove was a good read.
