Maybe One Day by Catherine Bybee is the next book (maybe last) in the D’Angelos Series, although it is listed as the fifth book. We have met, fell in love with and read about them finding their HEA, but what about the Mom. Mari’s husband died 10 years ago. She leads a full life with the restaurant, her kids and her grandkids. She is fine with her life until her friend Rosa dragged her on a cruise for singles. Mari has every intention of being a good wingman for Rosa, but there is a twist.
James is the twist. He is divorced (for many years) and has twin daughters who are about to leave for college. He went on the cruise to trick his daughters into thinking he is dating so they will leave and go to the colleges they want, not worrying about him. Only his thoughts of staying in the suite and answering emails and proposals for his company for part of everyday isn’t really what happens!
Mari and James are thrown together and slowly continue to seek each other out. Mari is determined this is just a fun time, nothing serious. James thinks he wants this to continue. However, I don’t think Mari’s family is going to be cool and calm about this new situation!
I love Catherine Bybee’s writing. I always feel like I can plop down and enter the world she writes about without feeling I should stop reading! (Too bad life gets in the way.) I enjoyed all the characters and wanted everything to work out! I love the slow burn of the novel. Maybe One Day by Catherine Bybee is a good read.
