As most of you know, I had no intention to retire this year. I planned on one more year of work. Well, everyone knows that plans can go extremely awry as mine did. My leg is healing very slowwwwllllyyyy, but healing none-the-less. .
I think I have begun to enjoy being retired. I have discovered I need to have a schedule or at least a list of things that need to be completed everyday, otherwise the day just disappears as I wile away time. I start most days with the puzzles in the New York Times. I really enjoy the new puzzle called Pips. It can be frustrating, but I like the way it stretches my thinking. I also always play Wordle and almost always play Strands. During this time I like sitting in my recliner and consider having a coffee. Then depending on the day, I read, however I have gotten in a really bad habit of playing Vita Mahjong, this needs to be cut back on as it is creeping into my reading time!
On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I have appointments to have my wound dressed and examined. Thursdays are always groceries and Heather in the morning. Sometimes we plan extra time and we have given away or thrown out a huge batch of things. Then I can read again. On Mondays, there is the library visit too. I almost always have books to return and pick up. I love that the library allows me to do so much on the computer.
There are some jobs that are being saved up for winter, like going through boxes of pictures. I also can’t wait for crafting and more crafting. I even almost have a clean table for the supplies.
Sundays are all about spending time on my blog and reviews, so I guess you can say the day is all about YOU.
Then there is the everyday stuff… picking up the house, dishes, cooking (gag), playing door tag with the cats, and taking care of the plants. I bought a timer (cheap kitchen one) to help me focus on cutting down on the games. It is with much regret that soon my baseball season with the Sox will end. I know there are other channels on my TV, so I guess I will have to explore.
Meanwhile, Elise as always has been busy. Her team as well is going to the playoffs. We both agree it would be a kick if the Sox played the Padres in the World Series, even though it is quite unlikely. She sent in a review on the book, Becoming JFK by Scott Badler. The author noted that he ‘wanted to write in the creative non-fiction genre with basic truths of JFK’s young life using fictional techniques’. I am sure after reading Elise’s review the book will be great. The author interview this week is with J. T. Ellison. The books he discusses are Last Seen, which is a stand alone and The Wolves Come Out at Night (Taylor Jackson Book 9), a sequel to Whiteout.
As always, Enjoy Reading!!!!
