Lady Farah Creates a Scandal by Bronwen Evans is the second novel in the series called the Season of Secrets. One of the premises of the novel is that women are lacking power due to the lack of financial resources. A group of ladies came together and together put their pin money into investments. At the same time a bet was made between this group and another one about who would make the most money over a specified amount of time. ONLY no one knows that one group consists of their sisters, wives and other female family members.
Lady Farah is a bit of a timid mouse. Her brother seems to make all the decisions for her and she does not vocally disagree with him, even when she does disagree with him. Secretly she has joined a ladies group who have put all their financial resources into a pool and have invested them in secret. Farah has almost put enough aside to be able to obtain a small cottage in the country with a couple of servants, if her brother insists she marry someone unsuitable. Unfortunately that is exactly what he is planning to do.
Farah was being noisy at her friend’s house and was accidentally locked into a trunk that Lord Rockwell Ware was taking with him on a ship to Ireland. So she is stuck on a boat with Rockwell (who she does not want to marry) on a boat. The scandal if it were known! Then she stays with him while he searches for his missing friend. OH the scandal is getting bigger. When she returns to England, she pretends to have gotten sick at a friend’s house and prevents the scandal – so she thinks. There is always someone who sees something and then talks…
I enjoyed the novel Lady Farah Creates a Scandal by Bronwen Evans. I liked knowing how both characters felt about the other, but neither of them figured out it was love right away. Lady Farah Creates a Scandal by Bronwen Evans was a good read.
