Book Blog:  The Back Burner

Reading has been on the back burner this week as I have had a bunch of stuff to do!  Several plants needed new pots (larger size).  A friend was selling her cuttings that she had started already into new plants and I bought several of them, but they needed repotting too.  I worked on making Halloween decorations and cleaned out more stuff.

I did finish the first four books in the Mystic Cove Series by Tricia O’Malley.  What a great series!  I enjoyed the location and the characters.  There was just enough “magick” to make the book interesting and different.  I have the next four books in the series to read as well.  OH – and best of all, they are on Kindle Unlimited.

I also read the latest – soon to be released Davis Bunn book called A Sea Glass Christmas.  As I love his writing and stories I was really happy to enjoy the novel.  Instead of the setting being on the coast of California, it is now on the coastal region of North Carolina.  We also have a new set of characters that are interesting.

I did have a DNF book this week.  I became so disgusted with some of the characters,  I found myself getting upset with them!  I didn’t need that! So I put the book away.

Elise sent in a book review of The Color of Death, Colm Truesdale Book 1 by Trey Gowdy.  It was a psychological thriller. A murder mystery with insights by an author who was a prosecutor in his working life. The interview was with Nina Willner and her book, The Boys in the Light. The book is a nonfiction novel that takes place in WWII.  The author writes the story from her father’s point of view (Concentration Camp survivor) and members of Company D Tank Unit who rescued them.  Each story highlights the good and the bad of the situation they were in.

As always, thank you for reading.  I believe in the best of you. (Which means I am consciously choosing optimism, positive qualities, and inherent goodness.  It means I am giving other people the benefit of the doubt, extending grace and forgiveness, and trusting in their capacity for change, love, and positive action.)
