Booked in Death by Victoria Gilbert is the first of a series called Booklovers B&B Mysteries. The novel takes place in Beaufort, North Carolina. Chapter’s Bed and Breakfast is a novel experience for many, but this weekend the guests and some townspeople are having a War of the Roses celebration with costumes and a special meal. Meanwhile, after dinner during the cocktail party, a man is found dead. Charlotte Reed is in her first year of running the B&B. Having a murder and threats to her security is a lot to take in, especially when everyone seems to have a motive and or access to the weapon, key and time for the murder.
The novel is a cozy mystery with lots of information shared that doesn’t always help Charlotte figure out who is the murderer and why. The characters are interesting and the various twists are not always expected. Booked in Death by Victoria Gilbert is an interesting cozy mystery.
