The Violet Hour by Victorian Benton Frank

The Violet Hour by Victoria Benton Frank is the second book in the Lowcountry Tale.  The series follows a family of women (all named after flowers). The family is located on Sullivan’s Island in South Carolina.  The family consists of the grandmother, mother and two sisters.  The book also includes Violet’s best friend Aly.

Violet is still trying to find her way in this new world.  She thought for sure she was going to marry and have her happily ever after.  That’s when he left and went to Japan.  Now she needs to figure out what would really make her happy and how to reach that goal.  Aly wants to be an influencer like her mom was.  While she is trying to make the leap of faith, her father invites a new woman to live with him.  Not only does she change things dramatically, she has made Aly and her siblings feel unwelcomed in their family home.  (She – dad’s new girlfriend – is a serious pill.)

Both of these ladies need to find their path forward.  While the book is mostly about Violet, I was struck by Aly’s story a bit more.  The end did wrap everything up nicely and I was satisfied that they grew into who they should be.  The Violet Hour by Victoria Benton Frank was pretty good, once you got into it.
