More Ideas of books….

This week I want to share some thoughts from friends and family.

I have heard from one of my friends about the book she read for her book club. I have to admit after she told me about the book, I ordered it.  The Measure by Nikki Erlick. The book deals with a number of issues that are relevant today. One day everybody opens their door and finds a wooden box.  Within the box is a piece of string.  Everyone’s length is different:  some long, some short.  Some people look, some people do not.  It is what happens next that is what happens with the string and what it means.  I noted it was called a science fiction, but from the sounds of it, perhaps it is more dystopian. I am quite looking forward to reading it.  It was nominated for Readers’ Favorite Debut Novel (2022).

My sister heard about a book at a meeting called The Wedding People by Alison Espach.  I have to admit, I looked up about the book and thought it sounded quite interesting.  A woman inadvertently invades a wedding and is taken into the celebration, despite the fact she is not expected.  This book won an award called Winner for Readers’ Favorite Fiction (2024).

I had a different nurse this week at the wound center and she shared a number of her favorite authors, but I am bummed I forgot to write them down.  I am hoping she is my nurse this week so I can write down the authors she suggested.

I have finished the last (but not least) book from my April list, so I have again gone off and explored more from Kindle Unlimited.  I am reading a 12 book series about a group of elite covert ops. The men are HOT, protective, sometimes clueless.  They hide their operation behind an exclusive motorcycle shop in Chicago.  I am on book number 10 and admit I am struggling not to read them through the night.

Elise sent along an author’s interview to a Brian Andrews and Jeff Wilson.  They are writing a series of books called The Shepards Series.  Elise sent in the interview AND a breakdown of all the books in the series.  “…the Shepherds, a military organization of religious soldiers tasked with protecting the world from evil spiritual threats, and the Watchers, teenagers who provide intelligence and reconnaissance to the Shepherds.”  I suspect this will catch people’s attention.  She also sent in a review of Hard Town.  It sounds like a police/ mystery/ thriller all mixed in together with a main character who is all about justice.

Thank you to all who read the blog and check out the books suggested.  I hope you carve out reading time this week.
