I have always enjoyed Darcie Wilde books, so I decided to try one of her novels in the series called Rosalind Thorne Mysteries. I decided to start with The Secret of the Lost Pearls. The novels all focus on Rosalind Thorne. She and her friends solve mysteries and problems within the glittering world of the Tonne as discreetly as possible.
Rosalind was not married and left with few funds; instead she uses her connections and common sense to help others to find “something” that might be missing, lost or stolen. She is also available to help others during difficult times. In The Secret of the Lost Pearls, she is seeking to find a “missing” necklace. At the same time, to cover her search, she is also helping a couple of young ladies make a good impression with people of the Tonne to help with marriage making.
The novel had many twists and turns, some expected, some not expected. Rosalind depends on Adam Harkness, a Bow Street Runner, to help her. There are secrets on top of secrets hidden within secrets. Together, they peel back the layers to find the truths.
The novel was well written, although I did wonder if they were going to be successful. I am currently reading another of this series as I enjoyed the first novel. The Secret of the Lost Pearls by Darcie Wilde was a good read.
