Sunlight by Deveny Perry is the second book in the Haven River Ranch Series. Haven Ranch is in Montana and is more of a resort than a working ranch. There are places to stay, to eat, hikes, rides and all sorts of adventures available. Sasha has been hired to help run the property as Grace is due to have a baby any day. Sasha is a transplant to the area and is not enthused about Montana. One of the first people she meets is Jax, her almost kind of boss and she creates a space between them even though she always seems to know where he is.
Jax is quite intrigued by the newest hire and can’t seem to let her go. Sasha keeps to herself and is determined to do the job she was hired for and not to be tied in to Jax. Until it becomes clear that she needs another place to live and Jax lets her live in his extra cabin. Jax is determined to woo her. Champagne becomes her downfall – and her attraction to Jax.
Sasha is a more complicated character than I expected. She was terrified of opening herself up to Jax and to others. She struggled for many years and kept that part of her life secret from her life now. I admire her struggles and her persistence to take care of people. Books in this series can be read as stand-alones. Sunlight by Deveney Perry is a great read!
