Evergreen Christmas by Janet Dailey is a new book and a new series called Frosted Firs Ranch. The novel takes place in a small town named Noel, North Carolina. Barrel racer Jordyn Banks buys property without seeing it in person and knows it is time to settle down. She is excited to begin her new life where she can be a part of things. Within minutes of entering town she is approached by four older women called the Noel Nanas. They want Jordyn to enter into the Christmas competition with her magnificent “fabio” fir. Little did Jordyn know what that small visit would start.
The town’s hottest and least available bachelor lives next door at Frosted Firs Ranch with his brother and cute daughter. There are contests and lots of people making this season a wonderful one for Jordyn. Being a straight shooter, she realizes that she has feelings for Nate Reed and tells her, but he isn’t ready. Only he really is and doesn’t know it. His family falls for her. The town falls for her. Jordyn has found her home and just maybe with a Christmas miracle, a hot neighbor.
The contests, snowy days and Christmas trees make the story fun. I love the inherent goodness in Jordyn. I love the characters of Nanas and Roxie. However, I really felt I had read parts of the story with other authors. Parts of the plotline were totally new, but the rest felt remade. Surprisingly I found I enjoyed the book despite the feelings about reading parts of it previously. I loved the meaning and the ending of Evergreen Christmas by Janet Dailey.
** I found it interesting that this is a new book, but the author died in 2013.
