Look on the Bright Side by Kristan Higgins is a wonderful book that really brings you on a journey of self discovery and new starts. The novel is a large (over 400 pages) but the novel reads quickly with all the storylines and paths from the main characters. Lark Smith (the main character) is a woman who has had to reinvent herself.
Lark Smith had a plan for her life, only life didn’t turn out the way she planned. A series of incidents made her have to take a few steps in another direction and slowly she came to realize that she has more opportunities following the new path opened for her. Losing her long term partner, finding out the area of speciality in medicine was not for her and then being open to meeting a new person allowed her to grow and find her new world.
The characters around Lark made the story more delightful. Whether it was her twin or Dr Satan, their characters made Lark more human and realistic, which made her more lovable as a person. I found I needed tissues more than once, while a few pages after I was either laughing at the characters or a situation.
