Judge Stone by James Patterson and Viola Davis is the story of a black woman judge in Alabama. Despite the seemingly advances in equality in other places, being a black woman judge is not easy.
Judge Mary Stone runs her family farm and is a judge in Union Springs, Alabama. She is a strong (serious take no shit or prisoners) woman. She is suddenly thrown into the middle of a case that has no hopes of showing justice. Morally and legally the case is a rolling judgement zone by all the members of the community with hordes of outsiders showing up protesting both sides of the case. In the midst of this stands a judge who is struggling with her own path in this case.
There are vigilantes, protesters, underage minors, doctors and a case of rape and abortion. The story is powerful and holds you on the edge of your seat time and time again. Judge Stone is a well written tale asking ‘what is justice’. Judge Stone by Viola Davis and James Patterson is a great read.
