You Can Scream by Rebecca Zanetti is a definite thriller. The book is the fifth in a series about Laurel, who is a profiler for the FBI agent. She is in charge of a small office in Washington State. Her half sister Abigail is being charged for killing their father. They look remarkably alike, both are brilliant, but Abigail is a psychopath and very good with manipulating people.
Laurel is working on an investigation, but is shot at, run off the road and otherwise harmed. She continues her investigation despite the odds, as Laurel begins to push harder into finding out what is causing people to grow lesions in their brains. Meanwhile, her boyfriend, Huck Rivers, the captain of Washington Fish and Wildlife is helping dig into her investigation as well as trying to figure out why people are stripping the rare and protected yew trees in the forest. Then there is Abigail who keeps pushing herself into the investigations or in Laurel’s life acting like she cares so much.
The ending is quite something and ties up a bunch of interesting happenings. I look forward to reading these novels as each one comes out. The juxtaposition between Abigail and Laurel is fascinating. The books are quite well written and enjoyable to read in spite of the suspense. You Can Scream by Rebecca Zanetti is a really good read!
