15 Summers Later by RaeAnne Thane

RaeAnne Thane has written another great novel with 15 Summers Later.  The cover brings you thoughts of a wonderful beach read.  The book is that plus more!  The main characters of Madison and Ava are sisters who have gone through a horrible experience.  Through their determination they were able to get away and after many harrowing escapes found help and were saved.  The story is about a summer 15 years after when they both are at a key point in their lives.

Ava wrote a novel as part of her thesis, a book about Ava and Madi when they were held captive and their escape.  Ava had dealt with that time in her life and did not share that information with her husband and her friends.  Ava’s book became a huge seller, but in the course of the book, her husband felt left out and deeply hurt.  Ava is destroyed when he leaves her for the summer.  She retreats to her grandmother’s house for healing.

Madi’s dream has been realized.  She has the funding to open her animal sanctuary and was given a small farm to hold all the animals.  Madi was working as a vet tech for the local vet and starting her sanctuary.  She tries to never talk about that time especially when she was shot and left with what she feels are obviously physical handicaps.  On top of all that, Madi realized that she has feelings for the local vet.  Then her sister’s book came out and Madi feels like she is under a microscope by everyone and they are treating her like is not capable.

The novel brings Madi and Ava together while helping them work through the trauma the book brought back to them.  15 Summers Later is an awesome read.  You might want to have tissues nearby.
