We Are All Guilty Here by Karin Slaughter is a thriller with police procedural sections. The novel focuses on two girls who go missing on the Fourth of July. It is filled with suspense, questions, fear and loathing. It is the first book in the North Falls series.
The main character is Emmy Clifton. On the night that the girls disappear and so much happens, Emmy feels she didn’t do enough to help prior to the girls disappearance. Emmy finds the missing girls dead after being tortured and is totally destroyed. Her best friend agrees and stops speaking with her.
The book moves forward twelve years. Another girl is missing and Emmy, with the help of multiple people, tries to figure out what happened, both now and then. We have a suspected criminal back in town, Emmy’s father, the sheriff has been killed, and the missing sister has returned. All this is wrapped up by the end, however there are many twists to get to the end! We Are All Guilty Here by Karin Slaughter is a wicked good read!
